This year's 2007 Northern Conference in Layton, Utah underwent a major facelift-and was
improved for the better! Hosted at a brand new facility (we have moved from Park City to
the Davis Conference Center in Layton, Utah), and at a new time of year (August instead of
September) the Conference took on a whole new feel.
With roomier training facilities,
better parking, nicer hotel rooms, excellent food and a more central location, it soon
became obvious that the decision to move had been a wise one!
We were very happy with our first ever Operator Rodeo on Wednesday afternoon, featuring Pipe
Repair, Pipe Tapping, and Control Valve contests in addition to the wildly successful backhoe
obstacle course.
We were honored to hear a Keynote address from Congressman Bishop during
Thursday's opening session, and Hill Air Force Base was kind enough to provide a Fighter Jet
fly-over during the flag ceremony as members of the North Ridge High School ROTC presented the
colors and Staff Sergeant Bruce Williams the 419th Fighter Wing sang the National Anthem.
We had over thirty exhibitors with excellent displays and informational booths surrounding the main
ballroom this year-a record for our Northern Conference. And, in addition to the Operator
Certification Course, and the water, wastewater and management training tracks, a hands-on training
course covering Pressure Reducing, Pump Control and Altitude Valves was offered.
Many of our
attendees also took their first-ever trip to Antelope Island for the BBQ dinner-thewildlife
sightings on the drive out did not disappoint!
Join us next year August 25-28th in Layton, Utah for the RWAU Northern Conference and Operator Rodeo-don't miss out on the next one!
