Water Taste Test

Simplot Phosphates near Vernal, Utah took home the trophy for Best Water in Utah this year! Congratulations to all who work so hard on the Simplot system. A representative from Simplot Phosphates will accompany the Rural Water delegation to the National Rural Water Taste Test finals in Washington DC next February. The Rural Water Annual Water Taste Test is conducted at the Annual Conference each February / March. The top three water samples are judged in a blind taste test based on clarity, taste and smell. White City Water Improvement District in Salt Lake County took second place in the contest, while Upper Country Water in Duchesne County placed third.

 

This year’s panel of judges consisted of Betty Naylor, Drinking Water Chairman, Heath Price from USDA Rural Development, and Angie Jones with the Davis County Health Department (the RWAU Associate Member of the Year.) The Taste Test got some recognition in the St. George Spectrum newspaper, and we have linked to that write up here:

Voting Membership Meeting

In addition to the entertaining taste test at the Voting Membership meeting on Thursday, we conducted the association business for the year. This included the naming of the RWAU Scholarship winners for this year. Congratulations to:
