JOB SUMMARY

This is a seasonal, non-benefited position with the City of Cedar Hills working approximately 40 hours per week from March - October. The Golf Irrigation Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining the golf course irrigation systems and reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent.

DUTIES

  • Operating, maintaining and repairing a complex irrigation system, including leaks on the distribution lines, valve risers, electrical system, computer and irrigation control wire

  • Performing preventative maintenance on the irrigation system

  • Determining wet and dry areas for adjustments of sprinkler heads

  • Maintaining proper inventories and stock of all irrigation parts and tools to minimize down time

  • Routinely inspecting irrigation system components to ensure system is operating properly

  • Performing other duties as required such as daily mowing, trimming and general golf course maintenance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Maintain a working knowledge of pump station maintenance requirements and prioritizing irrigation breaks

  • Utilizing safe work practices in job performance

  • Able to work in outdoor conditions and perform strenuous manual labor

  • Ability and skill in working as a team member

Qualifications
  • Required:
    • Two years of experience with large irrigation systems
  • Preferred:
    • Previous golf course maintenance experience
