Jensen Water Improvement District | Water System Operator/Maintenance Person

The Jensen Water Improvement District (JWID) is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the water system operator/maintenance person for the Jensen Water Improvement District's culinary water system. The successful candidate must be a highly motivated, self-starting individual with the ability to operate the JWID system in compliance with the state and federal regulations.  This individual, along with the District Clerk, is the day-to-day community interface representing the values and goals of the JWID Board and must be able to maintain confidential information. JWID resident is preferred but must be able to respond to office for emergency callouts in 30 minutes.  

Candidate must be drug and alcohol free and able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen, have a current driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record for past three years, be mechanically oriented with physical strength to lift 50 pounds, has the ability to read and update maps (paper and GIS) and have good computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).  Candidate is subject to a complete background check and motor vehicle record review. Candidate is required to work independently to set daily job priorities based on job requirements i.e. inspect pipelines, water tanks, PRV stations, read/repair meters, blue staking, create inspection reports for file documentation, think through problems and act accordingly, snow removal at office and other duties as assigned.  Candidate must have the ability to perform repairs to the system and/or provide supervision to contractors that will assist in leak repair and other maintenance functions. Must be at least 21 years or older. At times this person must also be willing and capable of working in the office as a backup to the District Clerk.

Current Utah Water System Operator certification is preferred/desired but must be able to pass a Utah Water System Distribution Grade 2 Operator certification within 6 months of hire. Must be able to obtain Cross Connection Control Program Administrator certification within 1 year from date of hire. Person must be able to be on emergency call after hours, holidays and weekends.  Candidate must be available to provide monthly maintenance and operation reports to the Jensen Water Improvement District board. This position reports directly to the district manager and Jensen Water Improvement District board chairman. 

This position is full-time typically a Mon-Fri, 8:00 – 4:30 pm position with benefit options medical, dental, paid time off and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.  Compensation will be determined based on job experience, professional demeaner and interview results.
