Full Job Description

General Description: Under close supervision from supervisor, performs a variety of unskilled, and semi-skilled work in maintaining the Sanitary Sewer System of Murray City. 

Duties:       

  • Performs unskilled labor in general maintenance and construction using a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Assists in operating a high-pressure jet machine, sewer rodder, T.V. Van.
  • Assists in locating manholes, sewer clean-outs, and main sewer lines.
  • Assists in setting up flow and strength measuring devices.
  • Assists in maintaining pump stations and grounds.
  • Is familiar with, and complies with all Murray City safety rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: 

Wastewater Technician I

  • Six (6) months construction/laborer experience.

Wastewater Technician II

  • Two (2) years of experience as a Wastewater Technician I, or any equivalent combination of education and construction experience.

Wastewater Technician III

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent and three (3) years experience as a Wastewater Technician II in Murray City, or five (5) years construction experience with at least one (1) year experience as an Equipment Operator, or any equivalent combination of education and construction experience.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain a Utah Commercial Driver License within six (6) months of appointment.
  • Must be able to obtain a Utah Wastewater Collections System Operator, Grade I Certificate within six (6) months of appointment.
  • Must be able to obtain Flag Person Certification within six (6) months of appointment.
  • Must be generally available and respond to emergency "call outs" at any time of day, year-round, regardless of weather conditions.
