Job Description
The Water Distribution Operator I is a full-time, entry-level position responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the culinary water distribution system to ensure safe and efficient delivery of drinking water.
What You Will Do
- Maintain and repair culinary water systems
- Operate tools and construction equipment
- Collect samples and inspect construction
- Operate wells, reservoirs, hydrants, and valves
- Locate utilities and repair leaks
- Perform on-call duties
- Read maps, blueprints, and GIS data
- Ensure worksite safety and traffic control
What You Will Bring
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license (CDL required within 6 months)
- Water Distribution Operator Grade I within 1 year
- Mechanical aptitude
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in varying conditions
Work Environment
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Lifting up to 50–70 lbs
- Physical activity including climbing, bending, kneeling
- Exposure to environmental conditions and noise
Compensation & Benefits
Starting pay: $19.43 – $29.15/hour. Benefits include medical, dental, URS retirement, vacation, and sick leave.
