INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
Office Personnel Person of the Year
Based on accomplishments, overall on-the-job performance, and involvement with rwau for a town clerk, city recorder, treasurer, manager, administrator, etc.
Elected/Appointed Official of the Year
Based on accomplishments, overall on-the-job performance, and involvement with rwau for mayors, board chair, councilperson, board member etc. (either elected or appointed.)
Outstanding Service by a Water Operator
Based on long-term, outstanding on-the-job performance (10+ years, distribution or treatment)
Outstanding Service by a Wastewater Operator
Based on long-term, outstanding on-the-job performance (10+ years.)
Water Operator of the Year
Based on extraordinary accomplishments of an individual operator during the award year who is directly or indirectly responsible for the day-to-day O&M of a water system (distribution or treatment).
Wastewater Operator of the Year
Based on extraordinary accomplishments of an individual operator during the award year who is directly or indirectly responsible for the day-to-day O&M of a wastewater system.
SYSTEM AWARDS
Most Improved Water System
Based on accomplishments and/or improvements of a water system during the award year.
Most Improved Wastewater System
Based on accomplishments and/or improvements of a wastewater system during the award year.
Outstanding Water Service to Customers
Based on long-term performance (15 + years.)
Outstanding Wastewater Service to Customers
Based on long-term performance (15 + years.)
Who is Eligible?
Eligibility for Scholarships is limited to dependents of full-time employees, Board members or Council members of RWAU member systems. RWAU Board and Staff members are not eligible.
How Much Money is Available?
Two scholarships of $1,500 are open to apply for. The two winners will be required to provide proof of full-time enrollment each semester in order to receive the award money. The payment is split into two installments of $750.
Each year at RWAU’s Annual Conference in Saint George, RWAU awards one individual with a full-ride scholarship for the Apprenticeship Program. Awarding is based on eligibility and upon enrollment of the program.
Applicant Requirements
- Must be employed by a member system, or are in the process of becoming employed with a water or wastewater member system.
- The employer must agree to have you, their employee, enroll as an apprentice
- Must be eligible to enroll in the apprenticeship program (eligibility requirements can be found on the apprenticeship program page, here
What Does it Cover?
- 100% of all required in-class training registrations will be covered by RWAU (This could be registration to a one-day training, a certification, or conference attendance. Anything required by the apprenticeship program)
- 100% of any required certification exam fee, for the 1st-attempt, will be covered by RWAU
- For example, if the apprentice needs to get certified as an operator, RWAU would pay 100% of the exam fee.
- 100% of any and all required material for the apprenticeship program, will be covered by RWAU
- This includes all study guides, textbooks, and other program materials.
What Isn't Covered?
- Travel costs or travel reimbursements
- Reimbursements for missed work hours
