Job Description

The Public Works Technician 1 position performs a broad range of duties involving installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of City infrastructure and public works systems. This role supports water distribution, sewer systems, roadways, parks, equipment maintenance, and general municipal operations.

What You Will Do
  • Maintain and repair City water supply and distribution systems
  • Inspect and support public works infrastructure projects
  • Install and repair water, sewer, storm drain, curb, sidewalk, and roadway infrastructure
  • Monitor pump stations, tanks, and metering systems
  • Maintain buildings, vehicles, and equipment
  • Operate within an on-call rotation schedule
  • Coordinate with contractors, City staff, and the public
  • Perform labor-intensive municipal maintenance and repair work
What You Will Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of maintenance or repair experience
  • Experience related to water systems, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, or mechanical systems
  • Valid Utah Driver License
  • Ability to obtain CDL within 12 months of hire
  • Ability to read blueprints and plans
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and lift up to 50 pounds
Work Environment
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Physical labor including lifting, climbing, trench access, and equipment operation
  • On-call assignments including nights and weekends
  • Operation of municipal equipment and maintenance tools
  • Exposure to construction, excavation, and utility environments
Compensation & Benefits

Benefits include Utah State Retirement participation, fully paid family medical and dental coverage, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, life insurance, and 401k/457 employer contributions. Employees with a valid CDL and tanker endorsement may qualify for a one-time bonus after six months of employment.
