The City of Saratoga Springs is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor Sewer to support the ongoing operation and maintenance of sanitary sewer systems throughout City properties. This position serves as the front-line supervisor for sewer maintenance employees and other temporary workers and functions as one of the City’s principal on-call employees for after-hours emergencies and snowplowing.
Working under the specific direction of the Assistant Public Works Director-Utilities and the general direction of the Public Works Director, the Maintenance Supervisor Sewer directs day-to-day sewer maintenance operations, supervises maintenance personnel, coordinates projects, operates equipment, and assists with planning and maintenance of City sewer infrastructure.
- Provide front-line supervision to temporary, seasonal, part-time, and full-time sewer maintenance employees
- Prioritize and schedule work and monitor work progress and employee performance
- Direct and perform routine maintenance of City sewer infrastructure
- Direct and perform sewer line jetting and manhole inspections
- Direct and perform maintenance of sewer lift stations
- Coordinate work with City departments, government agencies, citizens, and equipment and service suppliers
- Operate small, light, and heavy equipment, including front-end loaders, backhoes, utility trailers, and dump trucks
- Direct and train employees in proper equipment use
- Prepare labor, material, time, and equipment estimates as required
- Direct and perform repairs and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, tools, and assigned public facilities
- Assist with Public Works snowplowing operations, including scheduling shifts and clearing City streets and facilities
- Participate in long-range planning for facilities, maintenance, repairs, and improvements
- Assist with preparation of the Public Works – Sewer budget as needed
- High school diploma or GED equivalent plus two years of specialized training through professionally sponsored workshops, technical school, or vocational studies
- Minimum of eight years of previous experience in sewer and/or water systems maintenance or a related field
- Minimum of two years of previous experience as a crew lead or supervisor
- Detailed understanding of sewer systems, operations, and routine maintenance needs
- Knowledge of work hazards, safety procedures, and public safety matters
- Ability to supervise employees, prioritize projects, and manage multiple responsibilities
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and respond to emergency call-outs during off hours
- Ability to operate the tools and equipment necessary to perform maintenance duties safely
- Valid Utah Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement, or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Backflow 101 and Backflow 2 (Water)

- May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 80 pounds
- May require climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Work may occur outdoors and in wet, humid, elevated, or other challenging conditions
- May work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, electrical hazards, and vibration
- Work may be performed under deadlines and time constraints requiring changes to the normal work schedule
- Requires driving a City vehicle
- Includes after-hours emergency on-call responsibilities and snowplowing duties
The full salary range is $30.78–$43.09 per hour. Hiring will normally occur at the minimum of $30.78 per hour and will not exceed the midpoint of $36.94 per hour.

Schedule: The standard 40-hour work week is Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
