Job Description

The Secondary O&M Entry Level Worker performs hands-on maintenance, repair, and installation work related to secondary water distribution systems. This role supports daily operations involving pipelines, pumps, SCADA systems, GIS mapping, GPS systems, and emergency response activities.

What You Will Do
  • Maintain and repair secondary water distribution systems
  • Operate dump trucks, backhoes, excavators, tractors, and power tools
  • Assist with pumps, PRV stations, piping, valves, and infrastructure installations
  • Use SCADA, GIS mapping, GPS, and metering software systems
  • Respond to water system problems and emergency situations
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and inspections
  • Coordinate with contractors, cities, agencies, and the public
  • Participate in scheduled on-call rotations including nights and weekends
What You Will Bring
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of related water system or utility experience
  • Valid Utah Driver License with ability to obtain Class A CDL within 6 months
  • Experience operating light and heavy equipment
  • Basic computer, carpentry, and concrete knowledge
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivation and ability to follow instructions effectively
Work Environment
  • Heavy physical labor and outdoor work year-round
  • Lifting over 90 pounds
  • Operation of heavy equipment and power tools
  • Exposure to weather, excavation sites, and infrastructure environments
  • On-call response responsibilities during nights and weekends
Compensation & Benefits

Starting pay for this position is $22.33 per hour. Employees gain hands-on experience working with advanced utility infrastructure systems, GIS technologies, SCADA operations, and regional secondary water operations.
