Water Plant Operator I - IV

The Town of Estes Park Utilities Division supports water treatment and distribution infrastructure serving the Estes Park community. Employees operate and maintain critical systems that ensure reliable drinking water service and infrastructure performance in a unique mountain environment.

The Water Plant Operator I-IV position performs technical operations, maintenance, and repair work related to water treatment plants, pump stations, distribution systems, and utility infrastructure. This position ranges from entry-level through advanced operator responsibilities depending on qualifications and certification level.

• Operate and maintain water treatment plant systems
• Monitor pumps, PRV stations, distribution systems, and treatment equipment
• Collect water samples and perform testing and analysis
• Adjust treatment processes and chemical feed systems
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair utility infrastructure
• Operate SCADA and networked monitoring systems
• Support preventative maintenance and emergency response operations
• Maintain compliance with water quality and operational regulations

• Interest or experience in water treatment and utility operations
• Ability to operate treatment and monitoring equipment
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Experience with SCADA systems or computerized monitoring systems preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain operational and regulatory compliance standards
• Willingness to work rotating schedules, nights, weekends, and holidays as required
