The Meter System / Blue Stakes Operator I installs, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots water meter systems while performing Blue Stakes utility locating services to support safe excavation and reliable utility operations. Meter System Blue Stake Operator - 2026.07.14.pdf
- Read, repair, replace, and maintain water meters and related equipment
- Investigate leaks, unusual usage, and meter irregularities
- Install residential and commercial meters and AMI communication devices
- Test, calibrate, and troubleshoot meter systems
- Respond to customer service requests, connections, and disconnections
- Perform Blue Stakes utility locating and marking
- Interpret GIS maps and underground utility records
- Maintain accurate meter and locating records
- Assist with emergency water and sewer repairs and field operations
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of related experience or equivalent training
- Valid Utah driver's license with a good driving record
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and on a team
- Ability to obtain Utah Grade I Water Distribution and Grade I Sewer Collection certifications within required timeframes
- Ability to complete OSHA Competent Person and confined space training
