Job Description

Park City Municipal is seeking an experienced water treatment professional to lead the operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of its advanced drinking water treatment facilities.

The Water Treatment Supervisor will oversee the daily operation of up to two treatment facilities and lead a team of certified operators responsible for producing safe, reliable drinking water. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, a commitment to public health and regulatory compliance, and a passion for mentoring high-performing teams.

What You Will Do
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Water Treatment Operators
  • Oversee the daily operation of up to two drinking water treatment facilities
  • Ensure compliance with Utah Division of Drinking Water regulations
  • Oversee treatment plant operations, maintenance, and process optimization
  • Manage advanced treatment processes and systems, including microfiltration, granular activated carbon adsorption, manganese dioxide filtration, and UV disinfection
  • Oversee automated chemical generation systems, SCADA controls, plant instrumentation, and related equipment
  • Support emergency response activities and participate in the rotating on-call schedule
  • Collaborate with neighboring utilities, regulatory agencies, and internal City departments
  • Use technical expertise to resolve operational challenges
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve plant performance and reliability
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience in water treatment plant operations or maintenance
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and applicable certifications may be considered
  • Utah Grade IV Water Treatment certification
  • Utah Grade IV Water Distribution certification
  • Valid commercial driver's license
  • Ability to respond to emergencies while participating in the rotating on-call schedule
  • Ability to reside within approximately 60 minutes of Park City while participating in the on-call rotation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Associate degree in a related field
  • Direct Responsible Charge Operator Certification
Work Environment
  • Leadership responsibility for certified water treatment operators
  • Daily oversight of advanced drinking water treatment facilities
  • Work involving complex treatment systems, controls, instrumentation, and chemical processes
  • Emergency response responsibilities
  • Participation in a rotating on-call schedule
  • Collaboration with regulatory agencies, utilities, and internal departments
