The Utah Water Users Association (UWUA) is Utah's largest active association representing water users, irrigation companies, special districts, municipalities, state agencies, consultants, suppliers, and private stakeholders. The Executive Director serves as the chief executive and administrative officer of the Association. The role is built around two primary objectives: keeping Utah's water community informed on legislative and policy issues, and growing UWUA's flagship events, including the Utah Water Users Workshop and Water Summit.
- Monitor and communicate legislative, regulatory, and policy developments affecting Utah water users
- Publish newsletters, member alerts, and policy updates
- Represent UWUA at the Utah Capitol and with state and federal agencies
- Coordinate with the National Water Resources Association (NWRA)
- Lead planning and execution of the Utah Water Users Workshop and Water Summit
- Recruit speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and attendees
- Support the Board of Directors and Association committees
- Oversee budgets, membership growth, financial reporting, and administrative operations
- Substantive experience in Utah water operations, policy, law, engineering, district management, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with boards and stakeholder organizations
- Conference, workshop, or event leadership experience
- Knowledge of Utah legislative and regulatory processes
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible workload
- Strong relationship-building and leadership skills
- Generally 1–4 hours per day during normal operations
- Full-time effort during major event preparation periods
- Additional workload during Utah's legislative session
- Periodic travel throughout Utah and select national conferences
- Remote position with preference for candidates along the Wasatch Front
