Job Description

The Utility Service Worker I, II, or III position performs a wide variety of skilled duties related to utility infrastructure construction, maintenance, repair, and operation. Employees support water distribution, wastewater collection, storm water systems, streets, parks, snow removal, and general Public Works operations while gaining certifications and cross-training opportunities.

What You Will Do
  • Maintain and repair water, sewer, storm water, and street infrastructure
  • Participate in snow removal and emergency response operations
  • Operate equipment, tools, and utility vehicles
  • Assist with construction, installation, and maintenance projects
  • Perform on-call and emergency duty assignments
  • Cross train across all Public Works divisions
  • Complete assigned projects within schedules and specifications
  • Support parks, buildings, and municipal facility maintenance
What You Will Bring
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Ability to obtain Water Distribution I and Certified Flagger certifications within 1 year
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments
  • Positive attitude and dependable attendance
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn utility operations
Work Environment
  • Outdoor work in extreme weather conditions
  • Lifting up to 75 pounds
  • Physical labor including bending, climbing, kneeling, and lifting
  • Participation in emergency response and on-call rotation
  • Exposure to construction sites, traffic, equipment, and utility infrastructure
