Powder Mountain Water and Sewer Improvement District supports one of Utah's premier four-season mountain communities. This position helps maintain the critical water and wastewater infrastructure serving residents, guests, and ongoing development throughout the District.

Job Description

The Water & Wastewater Operator performs preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, sampling, monitoring, and emergency response for the District's water distribution, wastewater collection, treatment lagoons, pump stations, wells, storage tanks, and related infrastructure.

What You Will Do
  • Maintain and repair water mains, hydrants, pumps, meters, tanks, and valves
  • Inspect wells, booster stations, lift stations, lagoons, and SCADA systems
  • Collect and test drinking water and wastewater samples
  • Read water meters and maintain operational records
  • Respond to customer and SCADA alarms, including after-hours emergencies
  • Inspect contractor work for compliance with District standards
  • Coordinate water service needs with contractors and builders
  • Operate treatment equipment and perform chemical dosing as required
  • Maintain equipment, facilities, and work areas while following OSHA and EPA requirements
What You Will Bring
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to live within 30 minutes of the District
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater utility operations
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work outdoors and participate in an on-call rotation
  • Ability to obtain Utah Grade I Distribution, Collection, and Treatment certifications (or Small Lagoons Grade I)

  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions
  • Frequent lifting of 50+ pounds
  • Confined spaces, trenches, and utility infrastructure
  • Operation of heavy equipment and power tools
  • Exposure to treatment chemicals and heavy machinery
  • Emergency response during evenings, weekends, and holidays
Compensation & Benefits

Hourly pay ranges from $24.00 to $38.00, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, year-round position with Powder Mountain.
