Why this role?
Kick-start your civil engineering career on real projects that serve the community. You’ll help review, coordinate, and approve private development plans so new neighborhoods get reliable culinary water and sanitary sewer infrastructure that meets KID standards—today and for the long term. You’ll learn side-by-side with experienced engineers, inspectors, and our Public Works team.
What you’ll do
• Review subdivision and site plans for water and sewer systems under senior guidance.
• Coordinate utility design, service needs, and connection approvals with developers and consultants.
• Assist in evaluating technical reports, hydraulic calcs, and construction drawings.
• Provide clear guidance to developers and contractors on KID standards and specs.
• Conduct site visits/inspections and help coordinate acceptance of developer-installed infrastructure.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or final-year student close to completion) or a closely related field.
• E.I.T. preferred ( or ability to obtain in 12 months)
• P.E. in Utah achievable within four years (we will support your path)
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Blue Beam, Spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, interest in learning water/sewer modeling.
• Strong communication skills and a team mindset.
• Passion for public service and learning municipal/utility standards.
Nice to have (not required); Internship/co-op, fieldwork, or experience in survey, water, sewer or public works.
