Under the supervision of the Wastewater Supervisor, performs a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work on Murray City’s sanitary sewer system.
Wastewater Tech I:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Six (6) months construction/laborer experience.
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain a Utah Commercial Driver License within six (6) months of appointment.
- Must be able to obtain a Utah Wastewater Collections System Operator, Grade I Certificate within six (6) months of appointment.
- Must be able to obtain Flag Person Certification within six (6) months of appointment.
- Must be generally available and respond to emergency "call outs" at any time of day, year-round, regardless of weather conditions.
Wastewater Tech II:
- Two (2) years of experience as a Wastewater Technician I, or any equivalent combination of education and construction experience.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess a Utah Commercial Driver License with tanker endorsement.
- Must be at least a Grade II State Certified "Wastewater Collections System" operator and successfully pass a written and practical operations test specific to Murray City’s Wastewater Department.
- Must posses a Traffic Control Technician Certification (TCT).
- Must be a Certified Flag Person.
- Performs duties on trouble truck and must be generally available and respond within 30 minutes to emergency "call outs" at any time of day, year-round, regardless of weather conditions.
Wastewater Tech III:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent and three (3) years experience as a Wastewater Technician II in Murray City, or five (5) years construction experience with at least one (1) year experience as an Equipment Operator, or any equivalent combination of education and construction experience.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Utah Commercial Driver License with tanker endorsement.
- Must be at least a Grade III State Certified "Wastewater Collections System" operator and successfully pass a written and practical operations test specific to Murray City Sewer Department.
- Must be familiar with telemetering equipment and SCADA equipment.
- Must possess a Traffic Control Technician certification (TCT).
- Must possess a Certified Pesticide Applicator license.
- Must be a Certified Flag Person.
- Performs duties on trouble truck and must be generally available and respond within 30 minutes to emergency "call outs" at any time of day, year-round, regardless of weather conditions.
- Performs unskilled labor in general maintenance and construction using a wide variety of hand and power tools.
- Assists in operating a high-pressure jet machine, sewer rodder, closed circuit TV equipment.
- Assists in locating manholes, sewer clean-outs, and main sewer lines.
- Assists in setting up flow and strength measuring devices.
- Assists in maintaining pump stations and grounds.
- Is familiar with and complies with all Murray City safety rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
