Full-time, non-exempt position working under the direction of the Public Works Supervisor and Public Works Director. Position performs a variety of skilled duties related to the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of utility service systems including streets, water transmission and distribution, wastewater collection and repair/maintenance of City roads, parks, water and sewer systems, buildings, and other City facilities. Receives project assignments and completes the project as directed.
- Performs duties in all areas of Public Works, including but not limited to water, sewer, streets, buildings, parks, equipment, etc. to include maintenance and repair of those systems.
- Operate heavy to light construction and maintenance equipment & a variety of hand tools.
- Perform general construction projects, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.
- Prepare cemetery plots for interment.
- Snowplowing, parks, and trails maintenance.
- Must work on-call in rotation with other department employees.
- Required to respond and evaluate emergency situations and help determine the correct course of action.
- Responsible to perform special projects or other duties as assigned.
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Class D Utah Driver’s License and good driving record
- At least 2 years’ experience related to the above functions (additional experience as required by classification)
- Ability to communicate in writing and verbally, and add, subtract, divide and multiply basic formulas
- Positive work attitude; enthusiastic, confident, outgoing, helpful and committed. o
- Reliability and good attendance.
- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with fellow employees, supervisors, and the public.
Certifications:
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B or be able to obtain within six months.
- PW II: Water II and Wastewater II Certifications
- PW III: Water IV and Wastewater V Certifications, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) - Class A *additional certifications as required by applicable position classification
