Description

An example of the duties for the needed system operator are:

Exemplifies the District's mission by delivering the promise we care when interacting with customers, employees, and the community. Works with District staff installing, maintaining, and repairing water meter systems and in blue stake marking of utilities.

  • Identify and correct meter reading exceptions and inconsistencies, including repairing or replacing meter reading hardware when necessary.
  • Examines and tests water meters; searches lines for possible leaks or other problems which may contribute to high consumption; checks readings to locate abnormal consumption and records reasons for fluctuation.
  • Installs water meters and reading equipment on existing or new residences and businesses; locates meter box, removes security device and make appropriate changes; inspects meters and connections for defects, damage, and unauthorized connections; checks readings to locate abnormal consumption and recommends reasons for fluctuation.
  • Locates and marks District utility infrastructure (Blue Staking) to indicate areas within construction sites as safe to dig; monitors field activities to assure against line and service damage.
  • Develops and maintains records of blue stakes requests, activities, and completed work. Operates GPS equipment (survey and mapping grade) to locate and / or collect location data. Ensure data collected in field is coordinated with District GIS system.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides similar knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must possess a valid Utah driver's license and good driving record.
  • Must obtain a Grade I State of Utah Water Distribution within six (6) months and Grade I Sewer
    Collection Operator Certifications within twelve (12) months of hire date.
  • Must complete OSHA Competent Person Training and confined space training within three (3) months of date in position.
  • Bilingual capabilities encouraged
