Fall Conference to Continue as Planned - A message from the Executive Director

Rural Water News,

At the Rural Water Association of Utah, we focus on providing Utah’s drinking water and wastewater sector with the highest quality training and assistance out there – including hosting the best conferences available. In that tradition, we fully intend to move forward with an in-person Fall Conference in Layton, Utah this year. This Conference will be a high quality, safe and sanitary experience where we can all gather, learn, and network with our friends and peers in a socially safe and conscientious way.
Our members and attendees are part of an essential service sector upon which our entire state depends for its health and well-being. In order to protect each of you, and ensure you are able to come and learn, then return home and do your job, we will have all available health and safety protocols in place at the conference. This includes proper sanitation, health screening, social distancing and mandatory masks (with free masks available on-site).
We realize that some of our friends may not yet be comfortable joining us in person, even in a socially distanced gathering. In that case, we have made arrangements to hold one track of the conference on-line, for those who wish to join us virtually instead. We also realize that circumstances beyond our control may prevent us from being in person at a live event at all. If that does happen, and we are forced to move away from an in-person event completely, we have put into place a digital contingency plan. This plan would involve the Operator Certification track, the Cross Connection Program Administrator Certification track, and 1.0 water and wastewater CEU credits available online.
We are excited to be able to get back together in a safe way, and truly hope to carry out that vision if at all possible. But, either way, the conference will be held. Whether in-person or online, we look forward to an enriching experience at the Rural Water Fall Conference this year.
Until further notice, and with hopes high, we look forward to seeing you at the Davis Conference Center in Layton, Utah, the week of October 5-8, 2020!
