Full Job Description

Vineyard, a rapidly growing city, seeks a dedicated Utilities Operator with prior water utilities experience preferred.  As a crucial team member, you will play a vital role in operating, maintaining, and repairing the city's water and wastewater infrastructure. Your responsibilities will ensure water and wastewater systems' efficient treatment, distribution, and quality control.

Principal Duties
  • Inspect, operate, test, and maintain various water well and pumping equipment, water storage facilities, pipe systems, chemical feed systems, telemetry systems, and equipment associated with culinary water delivery
  • Maintain, operate, and attend to pressurized irrigation systems, including pumps, wells, valves, and ponds
  • Perform all sampling, monitoring, and testing required to comply with Federal, State, and Local regulations governing the water processes
  • Perform daily checks of the water systems
  • Clean and flush the culinary water system; respond to customer water quality inquiries
  • Maintain and ensure the adequate water supply in the city reservoir and the water system
  • Read, install, and repair the city’s water distribution metering system. Delivers shut-off notices and turns off/on water services
  • Snow removal and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Ideal Candidate
  • Motivated and willing to work independently and as a team
  • Available on a rotating basis for "On-Call Duty"
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment as well as light equipment and vehicles
  • Valid Utah Driver’s License required
  • State of Utah Water System Operator Certification preferred
  • Backflow tester or cross-connection control program administrator preferred
  • State Wastewater and other industry-related certifications preferred
